Our commitment to biodiversity is outlined in our Biodiversity Policy, which includes assessing risks and impacts across the value chain using internationally recognized methods. The policy emphasizes avoiding activities near high-value biodiversity sites, applying a mitigation hierarchy, and conducting biodiversity risk assessments, while ensuring no net deforestation and supporting restoration efforts. It also incorporates stakeholder engagement through communication channels to address concerns. Endorsed by our CEO, the policy applies across operations and critical tier-1 suppliers, ensuring consistent implementation throughout the organization.
IRPC and its subsidiaries’ commitment to biodiversity conservation and ensuring no net loss (NNL) of biodiversity from business operations. It aims to prevent and minimize impacts on ecosystems, protect and preserve biodiversity in operational areas, and manage natural resources responsibly. The policy promotes integration of biodiversity considerations into all business activities and alignment with sustainability policies and practices, ensuring operations coexist harmoniously with local ecosystems and communities.
IRPC’s approach to biodiversity management involves managing biodiversity in areas with sensitive biodiversity values or nearby in accordance with relevant regulations and standards, implementing operating practices/procedures to prevent and mitigate biodiversity loss, and avoiding operations in World Heritage sites and IUCN Category I-IV protected areas. To put our commitment into action, IRPC and its subsidiaries aim to implement the following measures across our operations, guided by the mitigation hierarchy principle:
Avoid |
|
Reduce |
|
Regenerate |
|
Restore |
|
Transform |
|
IRPC also assesses our performance on biodiversity and ecosystem services management to ensure the effectiveness of our actions by 1) Measuring the risk that our operations pose to biodiversity values 2) Regularly monitoring biodiversity values where we are required to do so 3) Regularly auditing our performance against our values and actions to ensure that we operate effectively.
IRPC conducts a biodiversity assessment to evaluate the potential impacts of our activities on the local biodiversity using GRI standards EN 11 and EN12 methods to collect data and describe sources related to Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (BES). The process includes integrating risk assessment and revising biodiversity data to develop a targeted action plan, particularly for high-risk areas.
In 2024, all IRPC operational sites (100%) underwent biodiversity risk assessments, with no sites (0%) identified as having significant biodiversity impacts.

For many years, IRPC has actively engaged in numerous projects dedicated to the conservation and rehabilitation of biodiversity, contributing significantly to environmental well-being. Some of the highlighted projects, activities, and our notable achievements include:
IRPC along with other PTT Group subsidiaries have signed three Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), involving the development of areas for planting, maintaining, and managing forest ecosystems in collaboration with the Royal Forest Department, the development of areas for planting, maintaining, and managing forest ecosystems with the Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation, and the planting and maintenance of mangrove forests for carbon credit benefits with the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources. The target is to achieve Net Zero Emissions by planting 2 million acres, with 1 million acres by PTT and another 1 million acres in collaboration with PTT Group subsidiaries by 2030.
In addition, IRPC has been actively engaging in biodiversity conservation efforts in Rayong, where our operations are located, in collaboration with local government agencies. Through various initiatives, we aim to enhance local ecosystems, restore green spaces, and work with stakeholders to promote long-term environmental sustainability. Key activities in 2024 include:
The activity was organized by the Environmental Management Division (QIEM) in collaboration with the ECO Factory team of RDC Group, Styrenics, Polyolefins, Polystyrenics, and the wastewater treatment team, with over 20 participants. The activities included tree planting, releasing aquatic species, cleaning up the area, and improving the landscape around Klong Nam Hu in Nern Phra Subdistrict, Rayong Province.
The Environmental Management Division (QIEM) and the ECO Factory team from various IRPC plants participated in a biodiversity event to commemorate the 6th cycle birthday of His Majesty the King. The event involved planting over 3,000 trees, along a 10-kilometer stretch of the Ban Khae-Wat Huang Hin-Jet Luk Nen rural road, contributing to local environmental conservation efforts.
IRPC supported the Rayong Provincial Office of Natural Resources and Environment in establishing an environmental learning network for youth. The Environmental Management Division (QIEM) and the ECO Factory team participated in a biodiversity event aimed at developing youth capabilities for environmental protection.
The activity included training, promoting environmental awareness, and setting up learning classrooms in schools. IRPC also donated educational materials and supported the selection of youth leaders for climate change initiatives in Rayong.
IRPC, in collaboration with the ECO Factory team from various departments, participated in the “Rayong River and Environmental Protection” activity on Thai Environment Day. The event, focused on biodiversity, took place at the mangrove area in Rayong and was organized by the Rayong Provincial Office of Natural Resources and Environment. The activity included releasing aquatic species and cleaning up the beach area, with participation from government officials, citizens, students, and private sector organizations.
