The Company applies the waste hierarchy (prevent, reduce, reuse, recycle, recover, and dispose) to manage waste and minimize landfill dependency. Operational controls include proper segregation, labeling, handling, and secure storage, with transfer only to licensed contractors for off-site treatment or disposal.
IRPC further enhances waste management performance through initiatives that promote waste reduction at source and improve resource efficiency. These include process and equipment optimization, reuse programs during maintenance activities such as insulation reuse under the Green Turnaround Project, and waste segregation and recycling campaigns for employees and contractors. The Company also collaborates with external partners to advance recycling and recovery opportunities, with performance monitored through regular audits and internal reporting to support continuous improvement.

Potential impacts include contamination of soil and water, as well as effects on ecosystems and surrounding communities, making effective waste management essential. These impacts arise from the use of raw materials, chemicals, and utilities in production and maintenance activities, resulting in hazardous and non-hazardous waste. They are primarily associated with IRPC’s own operations, with some impacts linked to upstream and downstream activities, including raw material sourcing and product handling or disposal. In response, IRPC actively manages these impacts by prioritizing waste reduction at source, strengthening waste classification and handling practices, and applying circular approaches to enhance resource efficiency.
IRPC has adopted the 7Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repair, Refuse, Return, and Rethink) and circular economy concepts to guide efforts toward optimal resource management efficiency. These principles are integrated into operations to support waste reduction at source, enhance resource recovery, and reduce reliance on disposal. IRPC also promotes the application of these principles across operational processes and activities, including maintenance and day-to-day operations, to strengthen resource efficiency.
For waste that cannot be managed through reduced reused recycled or circular economy practices, IRPC ensures that all such waste is handled by waste processors, in full compliance with applicable legal requirements from the Department of Industrial Works (DIW). With the end-to-end tracking system by GPS ensures full traceability of waste and reinforces the Company’s commitment to lawful, transparent, and responsible waste management.
In addition, IRPC supports innovation and collaborates with partners, including investments in initiatives that advance recycling and recovery practices. The Company also provides awareness and training programs for employees and contractors to encourage responsible waste management practices in line with circular economy objectives and broader sustainability goals. For example, in 2025, IRPC organizes training on Management of Waste or Unused Material BE 2566 Law and Waste Management Principle by IRPC Going Circular, with the objective to strengthen knowledge, reskill the staff, also raising awareness on circular economiy business implications. There are over 200+ staff attending this online training in 2025.
