Biodiversity loss poses significant environmental and social risks, affecting ecosystem stability, natural resource availability, and the livelihoods and human rights of communities that depend on ecosystem services. IRPC acknowledges that our operations and business relationships across the value chain, including raw material sourcing, refining, and downstream petrochemical activities, may create direct and indirect impacts on biodiversity. To manage these risks and support positive outcomes, IRPC integrates biodiversity considerations into corporate decision-making and operational practices, contributing to ecosystem protection, regulatory compliance, and long-term sustainable development.
Our commitment to biodiversity is outlined in our Biodiversity Policy, which includes assessing risks and impacts across the value chain using internationally recognized methods. The policy emphasizes avoiding activities near high-value biodiversity sites, applying a mitigation hierarchy, and conducting biodiversity risk assessments, while ensuring No Net Deforestation and No Net Loss (NNL) of biodiversity, preventing and minimizing impacts on ecosystems, and supporting restoration efforts. It also incorporates stakeholder engagement through communication channels to address concerns. Endorsed by the Board of Directors, the policy applies across operations and critical tier-1 suppliers, ensuring consistent implementation throughout the organization and significant value chain activities.
IRPC and its subsidiaries’ commitment to biodiversity conservation and ensuring no net loss (NNL) of biodiversity from business operations. It aims to prevent and minimize impacts on ecosystems, protect and preserve biodiversity in operational areas, and manage natural resources responsibly. The policy promotes integration of biodiversity considerations into all business activities and alignment with sustainability policies and practices, ensuring operations coexist harmoniously with local ecosystems and communities.
IRPC’s approach to biodiversity management involves managing biodiversity in areas with sensitive biodiversity values or nearby in accordance with relevant regulations and standards, implementing operating practices/procedures to prevent and mitigate biodiversity loss, and avoiding operations in World Heritage sites and IUCN Category I-IV protected areas. IRPC also assesses our performance on biodiversity and ecosystem services management to ensure the effectiveness of our actions by 1) Measuring the risk that our operations pose to biodiversity values 2) Regularly monitoring biodiversity values where we are required to do so 3) Regularly auditing our performance against our values and actions to ensure that we operate effectively. Findings and insights from these performance assessments will guide future actions for improved biodiversity management performance.
IRPC conducts a biodiversity risk assessment in accordance with the GRI EN11 and EN12 indicators to identify biodiversity-related risks associated with our operations, including assessments for both existing operations and potential new operations. The assessment applies a location-specific approach by evaluating the proximity of operational sites to protected areas and areas of high biodiversity value (EN11), using defined distance-based risk criteria. In addition, potential impacts of operations on biodiversity are assessed under EN12 through the identification of impact sources and existing control measures, with risk levels classified based on likelihood and severity. The assessment results provide a structured basis for identifying biodiversity-related risks across operational sites and supporting biodiversity management and reporting.

IRPC is currently working to align with the PTT Group target to develop Biodiversity Action Plans (BAPs) for operational areas where biodiversity risk assessments identify a high-risk level. IRPC is in the process of integrating the PTT Group BAP framework into its biodiversity management approach, with the objective of supporting the Group target of 100% BAP coverage across oil and gas companies.
For many years, IRPC has actively engaged in numerous projects dedicated to the conservation and rehabilitation of biodiversity, contributing significantly to environmental well-being. Some of the highlighted projects, activities, and our notable achievements include:
IRPC along with other PTT Group subsidiaries have signed three Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), involving the development of areas for planting, maintaining, and managing forest ecosystems in collaboration with the Royal Forest Department, the development of areas for planting, maintaining, and managing forest ecosystems with the Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation, and the planting and maintenance of mangrove forests for carbon credit benefits with the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources. The target is to achieve Net Zero Emissions by planting 2 million acres, with 1 million acres by PTT and another 1 million acres in collaboration with PTT Group subsidiaries by 2030.
IRPC continues its sustainability mission in collaboration with the Mae Fah Luang Foundation under Royal Patronage, advancing its forest plantation and ecosystem restoration project, Phase 3 covering 20,000 rai and Phase 4 covering 10,000 rai, totaling 30,000 rai across 13 provinces nationwide. The project aims to restore community forests while improving the quality of life, livelihoods, and local economies in parallel with long-term environmental conservation.
IRPC, in collaboration with the Royal Forest Department, has launched a terrestrial reforestation project covering 2,000 rai in Chiang Rai Province, and, in partnership with the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, has undertaken a 106-rai mangrove reforestation project in Satun Province. These initiatives aim to restore forests and ecosystems while enhancing biodiversity in the project areas.
In addition, IRPC has been actively engaging in biodiversity conservation efforts in Rayong, where our operations are located, in collaboration with local government agencies. IRPC, in collaboration with the ECO Factory team from various departments, with over 43 participants, took part in a biodiversity-related activity and beach clean-up event in celebration of World Oceans Day at Laem Rung Rueang Beach, Rayong Province. The event was organized by the 1st Naval Area Command, in collaboration with the Rayong Provincial Administrative Organization, bringing together government officers, students, and private sector organizations to collect waste along the beach, supporting marine ecosystem protection and reinforcing IRPC’s commitment to biodiversity conservation and stakeholder collaboration.
IRPC, in collaboration with the ECO Factory team from various departments, with over 14 participants, took part in a biodiversity-related tree planting activity in honor of His Majesty the King on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty’s 73rd Birthday Anniversary on 28 July 2025. The activity was organized by the Rayong Provincial Office of Natural Resources and Environment in collaboration with local government agencies and relevant organizations. Government agencies, community leaders, business operators, teachers, and students jointly planted trees along the median strip of Highway No. 4036, Chalerm Burapha Chonlathit Road, covering 5 kilometers in Pak Nam Prasae Subdistrict, Klaeng District, Rayong Province.
IRPC, in collaboration with the ECO Factory team from various departments, with over 20 participants, participated in a biodiversity-related activity under the “Tree Planting at Ban Pho” activity. The event was organized by the Rayong Provincial Administrative Organization in collaboration with government agencies, business operators, teachers, and students. Participants jointly planted Pink shower trees (Cassia bakeriana) along the road surrounding Dok Krai Reservoir, covering 1.5 kilometers, to promote conservation, development, and the expansion of green areas at the Pluak Daeng Development Service Center under the Royal Initiative, Rayong Province, located in Mae Nam Khu Subdistrict, Pluak Daeng District, Rayong Province.
IRPC, in collaboration with the ECO Factory team from various departments, with over 29 participants, participated in the “Rak Rayong, Rak Moradok Khong Phaendin” activity held in conjunction with Thai Environment Day under the theme “Rayong Together to Net Zero.” IRPC supported the activity by providing 100 bags of Hydro Plus water-retaining agent, a new product under the Mee Khao Fertilizer brand, for application to trees in the Pak Nam Prasae area. The event was organized by the Rayong Provincial Office of Natural Resources and Environment in collaboration with government agencies, business operators, teachers, and students. Activities included environmental awareness raising, aquatic animal release, beach clean-up, and environmental exhibitions at the Royal Commemoration Tower area, HTMS Prasae Memorial, Pak Nam Prasae Subdistrict, Klaeng District, Rayong Province.
IRPC integrates biodiversity considerations into its environmental management through participation in external certification schemes. 23 plants of IRPC’s facilities are certified under Thailand’s Eco Factory standard, administered by the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) and the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand. The Eco Factory certification recognizes robust environmental management practices, including criteria on biodiversity management and green landscapes. Through this certification, IRPC demonstrates systematic adoption of biodiversity-related practices in our operations, reflecting the Company’s commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible industrial operations.
