IRPC Awarded Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards 2023 for “From Wastes to Walk” Project
IRPC Public Company Limited, led by Mr. Kris Imsang, President and Chief Executive Officer of IRPC, has been honoured with the Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards 2023 (AREA 2023) in the Circular Economy Leadership category. The award was presented by Enterprise Area, an independent organisation dedicated to promoting Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility in Asia. This recognition is in recognition of IRPC’s “From Wastes to Walk” project, which supports the production of body accessories from recycled plastic.
The “From Wastes to Walk” project is a collaboration between IRPC and several network partners, including the Prostheses Foundation of HRH the Princess Mother, 95 prosthetic leg production factories nationwide, King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, and Veterans General Hospital.
IRPC collects polypropylene (PP) plastic parts from the production of prosthetic legs and related accessories through its network partners. These plastics are then recycled through a careful process. Researchers from IRPC’s polymer and integrated development research team conduct extensive research, experimentation, and testing to determine the optimal proportion of recycled plastics and newly produced plastic (Virgin) for creating high-quality recycled PP plastic pellets. These pellets are then formed by Eastern Polymer Group Public Company Limited (Client) before being delivered to affiliated organisations for the production of ankle and foot-level body accessories. This initiative aims to reduce the impact on the community and the environment, while also promoting a closed-loop plastic management system in line with the principles of the circular economy for sustainable development.
