IRPC and EGAT Collaborate on Sustainable Research Project

IRPC Public Company Limited and the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) have signed a memorandum of understanding for research and development collaboration and academic cooperation. The agreement was endorsed by Ms. Wanida Uthaisomnapa, Senior Executive Vice President of Corporate Commercial and Marketing, and Dr. Nitat Woraphonphiphat, Deputy Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT). The collaboration focuses on advancing research and innovation in extracting Humic and Fulvic Acid from Leonardite for use in agriculture, cosmetics, medicine, and other fields. Additionally, the partnership explores business opportunities for these innovations, leading to potential commercial production. This milestone agreement was signed at the Mae Mo mine in Lampang province, Thailand.

Ms. Wanida Uthaisomnapa, Senior Executive Vice President of Corporate Commercial and Marketing, emphasised that “IRPC recognises the importance of fostering innovation by integrating knowledge and expertise both within and outside the organisation. The company is committed to conducting business in alignment with the principles of the Circular Economy, utilising innovative technologies to drive the country’s progress. This aligns with IRPC’s vision of creating innovative solutions for sustainable material and energy use that resonate with sustainable living.”

The collaboration between IRPC and EGAT is viewed as a valuable opportunity for both parties to jointly develop the utilisation of by-products from the mine, specifically the extraction of Humic and Fulvic Acid. This collaboration aims to not only create commercially viable products but also exchange experiences and enhance personnel skills. Ultimately, the goal is to support the country’s advancement toward becoming an innovative economy.

Dr. Nitat Woraphonphiphat, Deputy Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), mentioned that “EGAT has plans to advance the innovation of extracting Humic acid/Fulvic acid and Humin continuously from the base material, Leonardite. Based on studies conducted by the EGAT team, there is promising potential for further use in agriculture, cosmetics, medicine, and more. Collaborative expertise from both parties could expedite the development process and explore business opportunities for innovative products. This collaboration not only contributes to the swift progress of commercial production but also enhances overall cooperation to leverage innovation for sustainable product development, thereby positively impacting the country’s development.”
