IRPC raises the quality of life for people with disabilities in Udon Thani province by organizing “Agricultural Learning Center for the Disabled” open house ceremony and delegate reservoir at the Development Center for Persons with Disabilities, Udon Thani Diocese, Ban Sri Wattana, Ban Muang Sub-district, Ban Dung District, Udon Thani Province. At the same time expediting “Lam Sai Yong Model” project, a prototype of community water management to contribute to society by sharing experience in water management at IRPC Industrial Zone, Rayong Province to help solve water shortage problem.
Development Center for Persons with Disabilities, Udon Thani Diocese and IRPC has been helping the disabled finding employment since 2017 and is currently open to people with disabilities and their caregivers to work in both agriculture and animal husbandry. However, the center still faces the problem of lack of water for farming and animal husbandry during dry season resulting in unworkable condition for the disabled and lack of income. Subsequently, IRPC provided innovation, knowledge, and expertise from experience in water management at IRPC Industrial Zone, Rayong Province to help solve water shortage problem.
Project “Lam Sai Yong Model” at the Center for the Promotion of Persons with Disabilities was completed in 2019, including dredging and expanding 2 reservoirs for agriculture, installing a 4.6 KW solar power system, constructing building for water pumps and pipes, and installing 12 water storage tanks to distribute water for use in agriculture and livestock. Toilets for the disabled are renovated and ramps are installed according to universal design. The project solved water shortage for agriculture during dry season and support the disabled with additional income.
