PTT and IRPC jointly study the production of raw materials for medical and public health equipment to improve the quality of life of Thai people
PTT Group by PTT and IRPC is fostering life science business aiming to strengthen the stability of the medical and public health industry. Joint research will be made on the production of Melt Blown fabric, the main raw material for surgical mask (PPE), N95 mask, medical gown, air filter, etc. and Nitrile Butadiene Latex (NBL) which is a raw material for producing nitrile gloves or medical gloves to reduce imports of raw materials, increase the competitiveness of the medical device manufacturing industry in Thailand to be on par with international standards and support sustainability growth of Thai economy. It is estimated to be commercially available in 2022 and 2025, respectively.
IRPC and PTT Group will be the first melt blown fabric producer in Thailand. This reduces dependency on imports, increase public health stability whereby this non-woven fabric made from melt brown technology offer nanometer or micrometer fiber with high-quality filtration suitable for medical consumables such as N95 face masks, medical gowns and filter. NBL is an important raw material used in the production of nitrile gloves. As they are more resistant to chemicals and various solvents than natural latex gloves, users will not experience irritation from proteins as in rubber gloves. Hence, it is widely used in various industries, especially the medical, health and food industry.
