IRPC Collaborates with Navamindradhiraj University to Establish the Country’s First Medical Testing Laboratory
Mr. Chawalit Tippawanich, Chief Executive Officer and President of IRPC Public Company Limited or IRPC together with Associate Professor Anan Manomaiphibun, President of Navamindradhiraj University signed a joint venture agreement to establish central medical testing laboratory for the purpose of raising the standard of medical products such as face masks, N95 masks and personal protective equipment (PPE) and enhancing the quality of products to meet the Thai Industrial Standards (TIS). The increase in the commercial value spurred Thai entrepreneurs to be able to compete in the international markets. Besides, it promoted the opportunities for Thai people to access to the products with quality. Professor Surapon Nitikraipot, Chairman of the Navamindradhiraj University Council, presided at the ceremony.
This project was an important step for IRPC to move towards a full-scale involvement in the development of the medical business while improving the public health in Thailand sustainably.
This project was a next step of PTT group collaboration between IRPC and PTT Public Co.,Ltd. to study the production of Melt Blown fabrics, which is the main raw material for medical and hygiene products such as surgical masks and N95 masks. The central testing laboratory provides the medical testing services to ensure the quality standard of medical products. Efficient testing tools and equipment will be imported to provide accurate testing results. The standards for these products include TIS 2424 – 2562 for masks and TIS 2480 – 2562 for N95 masks which are equivalent to ASTM and EN international standards. The knowledge and experience in polymer product development from private sector and the medical knowledge from the university were applied to manage and operate the business efficiently with good governance. Also, this collaboration enables Thai people to use medical products with high quality. It will also be the foundation for the development of a comprehensive and standardized medical industry in Thailand.
The central testing laboratory will be located in the Academic Service Building of Navamindradhiraj University. The construction is expected to be completed within the second quarter of 2021.
